Jobs for the Future (JFF) continues to lead the national conversation on career navigation with the launch of its ASA Center for Career Navigation. In a recent webinar hosted by the Ohio Workforce Coalition, JFF shared insights from its 50-state landscape analysis, which examines how states are building systems to help young people—especially those ages 16 to 24—access the information, guidance, and opportunities they need to pursue meaningful careers.
JFF’s findings reinforce what we at Future Plans have long believed: career navigation is not a one-time decision, but a lifelong process. It requires a system that starts with actionable data, provides personalized guidance, and supports multiple pathways to success—whether that’s a four-year degree, a short-term credential, or an apprenticeship.
At Future Plans, we’re proud to be putting these principles into practice across Ohio. Our model begins with a validated career assessment that helps individuals understand their unique strengths, interests, and aptitudes. From there, we build a personalized career plan and connect students and adults alike with career navigators—trained professionals who guide them toward workforce-aligned training and real-world opportunities.
JFF’s emphasis on integrating technology, building practitioner networks, and advocating for policy change mirrors our own efforts to scale impact through digital tools, professional development, and systems-level partnerships. Their call for a shared vision around career navigation is one we echo—and act on—every day.
As JFF continues to shape national policy, Future Plans is proud to contribute to the on-the-ground implementation that brings these ideas to life. Together, we’re working toward a future where every individual has the tools, support, and confidence to navigate their own path to a fulfilling career.
Let’s keep building that future—together.
